The three kinds of small text
Each uses a different Unicode block and has different coverage gaps.
- Small caps: ᴛʜɪs ɪs sᴍᴀʟʟ ᴄᴀᴘs — near-complete alphabet, best coverage
- Superscript: ᵗʰⁱˢ ⁱˢ ˢᵘᵖᵉʳ — sits high, missing a few letters
- Subscript: ₜₕᵢₛ — sits low, very limited alphabet
Where small text works
Instagram bios, TikTok display names, Discord nicknames, Twitter/X names and Tumblr posts all render small text correctly. Plain-text-only fields such as Instagram @handles and Roblox usernames strip or reject it.
Accessibility note
Screen readers handle small caps reasonably but often garble superscript and subscript. Never put essential information — your name, a link, a call to action — in small text alone.

How do I make text smaller on Instagram?+

Does small text work everywhere?+
It works in any field that accepts full Unicode. Fields restricted to plain ASCII, such as usernames and email addresses, will reject it.
Why do some letters not shrink?+
Unicode never defined superscript or subscript forms for every letter. The generator leaves those characters unchanged rather than substituting a wrong glyph.
